The Freedom Riders MC

The Freedom Riders MC is not a typical motorcycle club. The club was formed in 1999 with one specific purpose - to end the life threatening ban on motorcycles using tollways in the Philippines.

The fight continues to this day. The supreme court recently ruled that the designation of the tollways as Limited Access Highways by the DPWH was invalid as the DPWH have no authority to make such a designation. This meant that there was no legal ban because there were no limited access highways.

More recently the DOTC has apparently ignored the 2 year old orders of the President of the Philippines to urgently bring the tollways into line with international standards by designating all tollways as limited access highways and re-introducing the sub400cc ban already declared unconstitutional/void by the courts.

The translation of the Latin text on the club colors is "Never caged, always free".

The logo of Freedom Riders portrays both the attitude behind the passion, as well the dream, the very reason for the organization's inception. Central in the logo is a depiction of the ultimate goal - highway access, the ultimate objective of all enthusiasts who long for the opportunity to make full use of their machine's abilities. The highway extends in perspective and diminishes to a single point, in the center of motorcycle wheel, with spokes designed to invoke a rising sun. This sun depicts the sight that most motorcyclists love to see as they set out at the onset of a new day and ride to a new adventure. Flanking the wheel are the wings that depict the feeling of freedom that is so very central and common amongst all that profess to be true bikers. The wings also depict, the for now elusiveness of that ultimate goal for the Manila chapter - unrestricted highway access.

Who are we?
Membership is made up of riders who are prepared to spend time and occasionally their own money for the benefit of the motorcycle community as a whole. There is currently no restriction on Freedom Riders MC members also being members of other MC clubs.

FRMC takes on new members via "invitation of an existing member only". Anyone interested to join the club may get in touch with any existing member they know and express their interest. The member can then orient the interested party on the club's procedures for membership (from being a Prospect to a Probationary Member, and finally to a Full Member).
